Advertising is Awesome

Yesterday, Luke and I were in CVS looking for gumdrops. Yes, I put up the gumdrop tree again this year, and so far, Luke has decided not to trade gumdrops for time out (see earlier post).
Anyway, Luke was running up and down the toy aisle like a maniac when he heard a commercial over the loud speaker radio for Pillow Pets. You know that lovely annoying song, "It's a Pillow. It's a Pet. It's a Pillow Pet!"
He froze and gasped and yelled as loud as he could, "Wait! They got Pillow Pets here!"
I tried explaining that it was just a commercial so they might not have them.
No sir, he didn't believe that. He went running even wilder around the store looking for them. And of course, he found them. Wish you could have seen his "told you so" face to me.
So I'm hoping Santa pulls through on the Pillow Pet request at Christmas!!

The Following Christmas Carols Were Arranged by Luke

As we were getting the Christmas decorations put out today, Luke was singing, "O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree! How silly are your branches!"

Yummy?

On Thanksgiving morning, I was getting Luke dressed and talking about what fun we were going to have that day.
I told him, "We are going to eat turkey, and potatoes, and green beans..." And he yelled, "And pilgrims!"

His Teeth Really Bug Him

Luke just came over to me and said he had something stuck in his teeth. I got the dental floss and pried it out.
I didn't recognize it so asked him what on earth was that?
He said, "Wait! I know! It not a bug!"

Nice to Meet Ya

Today in the car I took a drink out of a Diet Coke I had bought at Target. Luke saw me and said, "Hey! My Daddy has that cup. You know him? His name is Don."

Yeah, kid. Pretty sure I know who you are talking about...

A Hugging Agenda

I have been taking Luke to the grocery store with me and of course when the cart is full and heavy is when he is most likely to ask to be carried.
So a few trips ago, I told him that I would pick him up to give him a hug but then would have to put him back down to walk.
He now asks a least 2 times per aisle, "Hold you for a hug?"
How can I resist??
It does make shopping for groceries more enjoyable to be hugged twice an aisle...

Need a New Incentive

Lately I have been offering a Mighty Bean to any kid that gets ALL of their clothes into the laundry basket right-side-out. I spend more time than you might imagine getting the laundry ready to put in the washer and I am worn slick.
So usually Andrew is the only one that does it. Ryan has never even gotten close.
This week, even Andrew's clothes were a mess. I asked him about it and he said, "Well, I didn't really need a Mighty Bean this week."
I swear I think he purposely put some clothes wrong just to mess with me.

Ryan's Work

Here are a few poems and such that Ryan has recently written at school (including misspellings, but either he is getting better or getting help as there aren't so many this time!)...

Fall
When I...
Hear the wind whistle
Taste turkey
Smell pie
See leaves
Touch trees
I know it's fall.

My favorite toy is my teddy bear. His name is Gaty because it's my mom's dad's name. I got him for my birthday. I have had him since I was one. My favorite thing to do with him is sleep with him. When I got him I was so exsited.

Pumpkin
big, round
eating, glowing, cool
pick in the fall
pumpkins.

Fun Field Trip
Yesterday my class went on a field trip to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The buffalo was their Walmart. The buffalo intestine were their candy. My favrit thing was a stachu of a coger. The buffalo bones where used to scrape fer. Teepees where not purple. The buffalo horn was used to carry coals.

Go Ahead and Give Me the Second Place Ribbon Now

As Andrew walked away from the dinner table tonight, he said, "Thanks for dinner Mommy. You are one of the best Moms ever."
Even Ryan noticed the "one of" comment and said, "What do you mean? Isn't she the best Mom ever?"
Andrew replied, "Well, Jake's Mom is really good. But you are pretty good Mommy."

Random Funnies

As we walked into the lobby of the doctor's office today, Ryan took a deep breath and said, "Man, I LOVE the smell of this place!"

Ryan's football team had their last game tonight before the playoffs start. The ref had just yelled out that this was the last play coming up. The other team was quick and certainly able to score. All the parents on both teams were standing and yelling and much more nervous than the kids. Andrew chose that minute to finally look up from his game he was playing on my phone and yelled, "OK. Can we go to the car now?"
Not to leave you in suspense - they won. Undefeated in the regular season, thank you!

I held up Luke's jammies-with-feet to get him dressed after his bath, and he gasped and yelled, "Socks on those things!"
Don't guess he'd noticed them in previous nights!
