I'll Have My Usual

I told Luke that we could go to McDonald's today if he would be good and go shopping with me for on-sale Christmas decorations.  He agreed - bribes DO work!
I was ready to go and he was moving at a snail's pace.  So I told him to hurry.
He looked at me and said, "Why?  Does McDonald's have happy hour?"

It would be funnier if I didn't explain it, but just so child services doesn't show up at my door...  I'm always in a hurry to get to Sonic for half-price drinks - that's the only happy hour he knows about!  At least I hope so.

The Anti-Prayer

We have a dry erase board that we use to keep a prayer list for the boys. They takes turns each day being the one that says the nighttime prayer. When it is Luke's turn I whisper it into his ear since he can't read.
Last night I said to him to pray that the snow waits until Christmas night so we will be able to drive safely to Nana's house Christmas morning.
He began shaking his head and refused to pray for it!
They want to go to Nana's but the excitement of snow is a bit too much for them apparently!

Cake Shapers are Awesome

This is a recipe that Andrew put into his class cookbook that he brought home for Christmas.  There were some doozies in the book but this is my favorite!!
All of you hoping for coffee cake for Christmas are getting this recipe.  It's a bit easier than the one I use!

Can't Buy Me Love

At dinner last night we saw an OU football player. Here's what Ryan had to say:
"That football player must be rich - his wife looks expensive!"

Mo' Money

Today Ryan told me a story about a car he read about that cost $300 million.  I told him that was ridiculous but if he had enough money in his jar, he could buy it.
Of course he said he would - he claims to be a secret billionaire.
Andrew piped up with, "I'm not a billionaire but I am a sixty dollarnaire!"

Dorothy's Main Man

Ever since Luke began his obsession with Disney (don't blame me!), we've had a nightly ritual. It's from a scene in Aladdin.
I always say "Goodnight my handsome prince." And he replies, "Sleep well, princess."
Then I say I love you and insert a Disney prince name. Or really any character's name, and he replies with I love you and the girl's name that goes with it.
Well now he is on a Wizard of Oz bender...
As I was tucking him in he said, "What's Dorothy's boyfriend's name?"
Me: I don't think she has one.
Luke: Yes she does!!
Me: I don't know who it is then.
Luke: I think it's the scarecrow.
Me: No he was just her friend.
Luke: No, he is her boyfriend! She tells him she will miss him most of all when she goes home!!
Me (finally catching on): Ok. Goodnight my handsome prince.
Luke: Sleep well princess.
Me: I love you Scarecrow.
Luke: I love you Dorothy!!

Does Red Ryder Make Glasses?

Luke is still watching A Christmas Story in the van. For some reason this one has him asking LOTS of questions.
"Why didn't the kid ask for more glasses for Christmas? He needs those more than a gun."

I Think He's Channeling Andrew

Luke is currently digging through the Christmas presents under the tree.  He found the present that Ryan bought for him and I just heard him say, "Hmmm...  Doesn't feel like anything that I want."

Notafinga!!

Luke was watching A Christmas Story in the van today.  (And thank heavens - he has been on a Mulan kick and has watched it on a loop for 5 weeks straight.  No joke.)
The part came on where the mom "accidentally" breaks the Leg Lamp.
Here's the conversation that followed...
Luke - Why did she break the lamp?
Me - Well she said it was an accident but she did it on purpose because she didn't like it.
L - Why didn't she like it?
M - She thought it was ugly.
L - Why did she think it was ugly?
M - It's a leg.
L - Why does the Dad like it?
M - I don't know?  Maybe he likes legs?
L - Why doesn't the Mom like legs?
M - Guess she just doesn't.
L - Why does the Dad even want the lamp?  They have a regular lamp.  I saw it.  I don't get that.

Harry's Hat

At the pet store, Luke found a Christmas present for Harry (our cat).  I turned to see what he had and he yelled, "It's a hat!!"
I know Harry would love it.
