He's On to Me

Luke asked what I did while he was at school this morning. I said, "I might have done some Christmas shopping!"
He replied, "I think you should know what you did.  So did you go shopping or not?"

If You Insist

Driving to dinner Saturday night, I said to Don, "I think we should go see Santa after church tomorrow before the lines get too long."
Behind me, I hear Luke yell, "Oh Oh Oh!!  Can I come?!"

Do You Have that on Vinyl?

I was turning on the ipod and Luke asked to listen to "The Dark Side of the Moon."
I was pretty surprised. I like Pink Floyd but they aren't The Beatles or anything so I hadn't brainwashed Luke to like them.
After much confusion, what he really wanted was to hear a song from Mulan which includes that line in the lyrics.
Disney music and Pink Floyd are easy to confuse I guess!

Princess Pyrotechnics

Andrew made a book of homophones for school.  Here is "tale" and "tail."  It's a bit hard to see because it wraps around but the tale being told says, "and the fairy princess went kablamo."
Then the kid below yells, "Yay."

I bet this was for Luke's benefit!

Thank Goodness! I Don't Need Another Kid!

Luke circled the things he wants for Christmas in the ToysRUs catalog.  Look closely at this one.  He put an X on the kid and told me he doesn't want him, he just wants the car set!!

Hope Immigration Doesn't Check on Him

Quote from Andrew:
"Yeah... Flynn looks like a foreigner."

(In case you don't know, Flynn is our Siberian husky).

But He Does Like Penguins

Quote from Andrew...
"Tuxedos. Ugh, they are SO annoying!"

Hope They Paid Him

Overheard this in the van yesterday while driving Andrew and his friends on a field trip...

"Year before last I was Ryan and Luke's test monkey."

Fall Favorites

We had our first good cool front this morning, so Ryan checked the temperature and announced, "Hey! It's only 52 degrees outside!"
Andrew gave a big fist-pump and yelled, "YES!! 52 is my favorite temperature!"

What Did That Cowboy Say?

We met with a veterinary student at OSU this week.
(Our poor dog was sick and had to be hospitalized. Don't worry - he's better now!)
The student had quite a southern twang to his voice. As we drove away, Ryan said, "OSU people sure talk different!!"

Date Night

I took Luke to see Disney on Ice.
Let me stop right there to clear up a couple of things.  First, there were TONS of little boys there and not all of them were babies with older sisters (and we wouldn't have cared even if Luke was the only boy there!).  And second, the finale of the show was all Tangled and you know we love that.  And third, Rapunzel waved at him.  Best. Disney on Ice.  Ever!
Here's the funny part though...  It's our conversation on the way back out to the car:

Me:  Thanks for going on a date with me, Luke!!
Luke:  What?  This was a date?
M: Yep!
L: But all we did was watch a show.  Is that a date?
M:  Sure.  When Daddy and I go on a date, we usually just eat dinner and then see a movie.
L: Well I didn't get dinner.

Never mind the fact that I had made him dinner before we left.  I do have to give the kid credit though.  He did not beg for the $12 snow cone (no lie - $12!) or the $10 popcorn!!  He was happy with the apple I had in my purse.  For that he earned a Flynn Rider sword.
And he was completely freaked out by the midway at the Fair, so I think I don't need to be concerned he'll end up as a fair carny!!

Musical Tragedy

My iPod died and Luke and I were forced to listen to the radio in the car.  As I searched through the radio stations for a song that we could both enjoy, he said, "Mommy the radio isn't working right.  It's skipping."

She's Too Young for Him

Happy 5th Birthday, Luke!!!

Today I went to his school for his birthday party and saw a cute little girl.  I asked him about her and he told me her name.  I said I thought she was cute and he replied, "Yeah.  But she's only four."

Song Titles by Luke

Luke doesn't always know the names of songs but he knows what he likes. The other day he asked if he could listen to "turn me up when you feel low" on my iPod. Funny thing is, I knew exactly what song he wanted!

Wardrobe Based Employment

Luke just came to me and said, "I want to be a diver when I grow up so I can wear a speedo!"

Indy

This is one of those things that you may not find funny but I never want to forget how Luke pronounces some words. Today he mentioned "Adio Jones" which is one of my favorites! Translation? Indiana Jones!

Oh, the Irony!

Luke had his first chapel at school this week.  I asked how it was and he said they sang songs but couldn't remember anything else.
When Ryan and Andrew got home I asked them about it and this must have triggered Luke's memory because he started squealing saying something funny happened.
He said, "Mr. Brown got on the stage to talk to us.  And guess what?  He is NOT BROWN AT ALL!!"

Is That French?

There is a song in Tangled where a guy yells "Thank You"! Luke always sings it as "Hup Too"!
We've argued over it every time we've watched the movie (10,000 times) and every time we've listened to the song on my iPod (20,000 times).
After all of these times he finally said, "Did you know that Hup Too means thank you??"

Dr. Ryan Stout

There were a ton of bees swarming all around the karate building tonight.  We all made a run for it to the van and when Ryan jumped in he yelled, "Whew!  Just made it.  Good thing because aren't I allergic to bees?"
I explained that we didn't know since he had never been stung, but there's a pretty good chance of it since Don is allergic.
He replied, "I know I'm allergic.  I get a really weird feeling whenever a bee is around me."

PreK for Sharks

School started today for Luke! Last night he asked, "Mommy, you mind if I could tell kids my name is Sharkey?"

When he got home today I asked if he had done that and he said, "Yeah but just to one kid and he already knew my other name."
